This Palo Verde tree used to grow along North
Scottsdale Road, on the way to Carefree. Whenever I mentioned it, people
always knew exactly the tree I was talking about. I threatened for years
to do a portrait of it. One day I mentioned that threat to a patron who
immediately commissioned this portrait. I believe I got the color right
on, that special, unique Palo Verde springtime blossom color, in pastel,
but can't quite do it justice on the web. The next time I get to
Phoenix, I'm going to take a run out Scottsdale Road, just in case "my"
tree is still there.
