| Only time will tell, but tom Orchard, the
chairman who conceived the idea of a black-tie ball under the stars at
the Phoenix Zoo, plans to have perfectly beautiful weather for the
event.
The ball is set for Saturday.
"We have thoroughly researched the weather patterns over the
past 10 years as well as long-range weather projections," he said,
"and we are confident of a beautiful night, two nights after a full
moon."
The event is sponsored by the Arizona Zoological Society and the
Wildest Club in Town. Proceeds will help refurbish the children's animal
contact (petting) area.
Tickets are $150 per couple.
The co-sponsor, the Wildest Club in Town, was founded in 1972 to
promote the growth of the zoo and to raise funds for special projects.
The formal dinner-dance will begin at 6:30 p.m. with "cocktails
with the orangutans" followed by a VIP zoo tour. dinner will be at
8p.m., catered by Camelback Inn.
Entertainment will be provided by the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra Chamber
Group and the seven-piece Encore group.
Early reservations are suggested because attendance is limited to 200

John Farnsworth's painting of the Arabian Oryx, commissioned especially
